During a phone interview with Amazon.com in 1999, I was asked to name all of the technical books that were on my desk. I remember smiling as I heard the question because I probably owned every PHP & MySQL related book in print at that time. Fast forward to 2008, most technical resources are readily available online and many of those books have been replaced with heavily used bookmarks.
That being said, there are several books that I would highly recommend to anyone who develops or wants to develop online applications.
